Privacy Policy
Your files never leave your device.
One privacy policy for the whole Rocktier family. Every app works on your files locally, and no app connects to the internet unless you ask it to. No accounts, no uploads, no tracking.
Last updated: 18 October 2026.
Scope
This policy applies to every Rocktier app and to rocktier.com. The current family: Rocktier PDF, Rocktier Pic2WebP, Rocktier Markdown, Rocktier OCR, Rocktier CAD Viewer, Rocktier Write, Rocktier Journal, Rocktier Sign and Rocktier Compressor. Each new app that joins is covered by this same policy.
What we collect
Rocktier apps are built so they need no personal information to work. We ask for no name, no email, no phone number, no location, and no account. There is nothing to sign up for, and we run no usage analytics.
The files you compress, convert, edit, merge, or sign are processed on your device and never leave it. We have no servers that receive them and no way to see them.
Our apps contain no telemetry, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party analytics of any kind. If a version ever offers crash reporting, it is off by default: a report is sent only after you approve that specific report, and declining it costs you nothing.
A Rocktier app can make exactly two kinds of requests, both described in full below: a license activation, and an update check that also re-checks your licence status. Both happen only when you ask for them - by entering a license code, or by clicking "Check for updates". Neither is needed to use the app, and it works fully offline without them.
Update checks
No Rocktier app checks for updates on its own. The app does not connect to the internet when it starts, while you work, or in the background. When you click "Check for updates", the app requests one small file that lists the latest version - and that is the only thing it asks for.
That request carries only the app's name, its version number, and your operating system and CPU architecture. It never carries your license code, your device identifier, or anything about your files. If a newer version exists, the app tells you and links to the official release page. We never download or install anything without asking, and we do not track which version you run.
When you activate a license, that same request also returns the latest version number, so the app can mention it if you are behind; that file is hosted on GitHub, which handles standard request information such as IP address under GitHub's own privacy policy, and we do not receive it. On the latest releases, clicking "Check for updates" also re-checks your licence status with our server once - the request carries only the transaction id already in your receipt, and a refunded licence is deactivated locally. Apps installed from a store are updated by the store instead, with no request to us at all.
License activation
Activation is the only action that sends an identifier, and it happens only when you choose to activate a license or manage your devices. The app sends your license code together with a device identifier, so that we can count activations against the device limit and let you release a machine you no longer use.
We store the license code, the device identifier, and the activation date. We store nothing else, and your documents are never involved.
How your data is processed
All work happens locally on your device using its native capabilities, with no internet needed. Closing an app or deleting it removes its data from your device; nothing is kept anywhere else.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with anyone, for any reason.
When you download an app from a store (Microsoft Store, Apple App Store, or similar), the store operator handles standard transaction and device information under its own privacy policy. That handling is governed by the store operator, not by us, and we receive no personal data from it.
Storage and security
Your data lives only on your device, protected by your operating system's own measures: app sandboxing, file permissions, and encryption at rest. There is no Rocktier cloud, no Rocktier database, and no data center that can be breached.
Children's privacy
Rocktier apps are not directed at children under 13 and do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. In practice, there is nothing of yours, or of a child's, for us to hold.
Your rights
Under the GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), and China's PIPL, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your personal data. Because Rocktier collects no personal data, these rights are met by design. For any question, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
About this website
This site does not use cookies, analytics, or advertising. Your theme preference is stored in your browser's localStorage, on your device only. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and access time) under its own privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, when a change is significant, note it on this page. It remains a single policy for the whole family, however large it grows.
Contact
Rocktier is operated by Wuhan Hanyang Rock Network Technology Studio, which is the data controller for the limited processing described in this policy.
